#HCTmotherhood: How to get perfect family photos Featuring @SHOOTT

I have been wanting updated family photos for years. I’ll be honest the pictures of us in my home are lack luster and far and few in between. One day an ad came across my instagram scroll, it was for a new company called SHOOTT. This company has photographers in all 50 states, schedules a 30 min shoot, with no sitting fee. You only pay for the photos that you absolutely love, no obligations. HMMMMM….This sounded like the answer to everything I was asking, the internet ad gods read my mind and stroked again.

I clicked onto the site, selected my area, and boom there were upcoming dates available. Booking the photoshoot was super simple, you picked the date and time, filled in a few details and you’re done. The day before the scheduled shoot, the photographer sent me the pin of her exact location with some details of what she’d be wearing. Again, this is still seeming too good to be true. I really don’t have to pay anything yet? we’ll see.

We get there I tell her some of my ideas she tells me some of hrs and we get to it. A little side note, my 2 yr old is quite rambunctious (what two yr old isn’t) but she was so comfortable getting him to follow her instructions and playing off of me talking to him and his brother talking to him. She was such a natural.

Honestly, we’re pretty award when it comes to photos, and seeing as how we’ve never done a professional shoot before thought the pictures would be terrible. But honestly when she sent me the lightly edited photos 2 days later, I was floored. They were perfect! This company is not too good to be true, it is exactly as it sounds. I ended up using the same program for my trip to Hawaii and was just as satisfied. I kind of calculated own to a science how much I wanted to spend, which is about 100$ per shoot. Each photo cost 15$ and I found a 20% coupon code that dropped each photo down to 12$. So I was able to get 8 photos, and honestly youre not obligated to get any if you hate them all. They also offer a discounted price for the whole gallery of 40+ photos for 240$.

Here are some of the shots we got

So, how do you accomplish this perfect photoshoot

  • Make sure you have coordinating outfits. Not perfectly matching but coordinating. A lot of companies sell family outfits now to make it really easy, but I personally like to make my own combinations.
  • Make sure everyone is fed and happy. Meaning the perfect time is either after breakfast, after lunch, or after dinner. Depending on the backdrop lighting that you need. You also don’t want to be eating in your picture clothes because that too is a recipe for disaster.
  • Bring snacks, especially if you have a defiant toddler. The only thing that gets him to listen is bribery and I have no problem using to get what I want. Goldfish, “alway pack goldfish” is my motto.
  • Dont do anything you don’t like, it will show through the fake smile. Honestly, there are plenty of poses that can be done that don’t make you feel weird, make sure to tell your photographer what works for you and what doesn’t work for you, they understand completely.
  • Last, keep your expectations low. I told myself the whole way there, if we get one good photo that’s a win. Turns out we got several. YAY
